Although we use MS Word application as the example here, the answers equally apply to any other Windows applications.
1) How can I use Baraha with MS Word or any other word processor?

2) I have Baraha Direct running. But when I type in MS Word I get only English characters. What is the problem?
Make sure the Indian language is currently selected. You can switch between Indian language and English by pressing F11 key.
3) Still I am not getting Indian language characters in MS Word. What is the problem?
Check if you have selected the Baraha fonts in the target application properly.
4) OK now I can type in Indian language words. But some words are not coming properly. What is the problem?
You must have chosen AutoCorrect and AutoFormat options in the MS Word. These options automatically change the characters as you type to correct them. This is good only for English language. Click Tools | AutoCorrect menu command in MS Word to go to AutoCorrect options and disable all the "AutoCorrect" options.
5) Can I use Baraha in M.S. Excel?
Baraha can be used in any Windows applications as long as you have the options to select Baraha fonts. Word processors, Page Makers, HTML editors, Spreadsheets, Painting applications... to name a few.
6) I edited some Indian language text in M.S.Word and saved it. Now if I open it again I see only junk characters?
When ever you see junk characters instead of expected Indian language characters, it means that the Baraha fonts are not installed or corrupted. May be you accidentally deleted them. Re-install the Baraha software to install the fonts.
7) What is the best method to send e-mails in Indian language using Baraha?
You can send Indian language emails in 4 formats as follows. You have to choose them according to the facility available at the recipient's site.
a) Save your mail as a BRH file in Baraha and send as an attachment :
The recipient should have the Baraha to open the BRH file to read it.
b) Export your mail as a DOC file in Baraha and send as an attachment :
The recipient can open the .DOC file in MS Word or Wordpad programs. Baraha fonts are required to view the mail.
c) Export your mail as a HTML file in Baraha and send as an attachment :
The recipient should have HTML based email programs like HOTMAIL, ROCKETMAIL etc. Baraha fonts are required to view the mail.
d) Export your mail as a GIF, JPG files in Baraha and send as an attachment :
The recipient need not have the Baraha fonts/programs. He can open the GIF, JPG files in any program that supports it. The disadvantage in this case is that the email size will be more.
8) When we receive an e-mail, which contains a HTML file as attachment, how do we view it?
Save the HTML file to your hard disk and open it in a WEB browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.
9) When we receive an e-mail, which contains a Baraha BRH file as attachment, how do we view it?
Save the file to your hard disk. Run Baraha program and open the BRH file.
10) When we receive an e-mail, which contains a GIF, JPG file as attachment, how do we view it?
Save the file to your hard disk. Open the GIF, JPG files from the Netscape or Internet Explorer.
11) How do I check if the Baraha fonts are properly installed?
You can go to the Control Panel and click the Fonts icon. You will see all the fonts that are installed in your system.
12) I want to create my website in Indian language. I want people using non Windows platforms to visit my site?
You can publish your webpages as GIF, JPG files or using HTML files which use UTF-8 encoding.
13) How do I make Baraha fonts dynamic?

14) While editing In Baraha Editor, I am not getting bold, underline, italic for a specific word. But I am getting bold / underline for the entire text?
The Bold, Underline, Italic command buttons on the tool bar set the default font style property for the window. So they affect the entire window. If you want to make only some section of the text bold or underline then you have to use switches. See Selective Text Formatting for more information.
15) Is Baraha useful only if one has Internet and e-mail facilities?
Baraha can be used in word processors, spread sheets, page makers and other windows applications.
16) Can I send e-mails directly from Baraha?
This is possible only if you have installed MAPI services in your system. Read Sending e-mail using Baraha topic in the help file.
17) I am using Internet Explorer 5.0. I have installed the Baraha fonts properly. Still I am not able to see the Indian language words properly?
Right click on the IE 5.0 window select Encoding | User Defined encoding
18) How do I use hyperlinks in a Baraha document?

19) I received .brh file through email containing Kannada text. I can understand Kannada language but not read Kannada script. How can i convert it to Telugu script?
a) Open the .brh file in Baraha 6.0
b) Select View | Script Override | Telugu menu command.
20) I received a word document containing Hindi UNICODE text. I understand Hindi
(thanks to Hindi movies!) but am very slow when reading devanagri script. how can i
convert to Kannada script.?
a) Open the document in MS Word and select all the text.
b) In Baraha 6.0 right click on the Input Window and select Paste Special |
Automatic Conversion command.
c) Select Edit | Convert menu to convert the text, which now appears in
devanagari script..
d) Select View | Script Override | Kannada menu command.
21) I speak Malayalam and trying to learn Kannada script. How can Baraha help?
In Baraha 6.0 it is possible to convert text from one script to another. You can type a
Malayalam word and see how it looks in Kannada script. Set the default language to the
language you speak (Malayalam), and set the Script Override to the script
you are trying to learn (Kannada). Now, when you type a Malayalam word, it appears in
Malayalm script in the Preview Window. When you convert the text it appears in Kannada
script. Now you can see the same word written in 2 different scripts simultaneously. This
way, you can learn new scripts.
