Font Convert

Font Convert allows the user to convert the text from one font to another. The fonts supplied with Baraha 5.0 and above versions have an encoding different from the fonts shipped with earlier versions of Baraha, such as Baraha 2.0/Baraha 2000/Baraha 2000a. The Font Convert enables user to convert .doc, .html files that use Baraha Kan New / Baraha Devanagari fonts, to the new font encoding used in Baraha 5.0 and above.

Also, Kannada websites such as  http://www.thatskannada.com, http://www.kannadaprabha.com e.t.c. are using commercial software/fonts from other vendors such as ShreeLipi, Akruti and CDAC fonts. Kannada magazines - both online and offline need a good interaction from its readers. Readers should be able to send their comments, suggestions and articles to the online magazines in Kannada via email for quick and easy publication, which will result in better service and quality content of the magazine. Baraha has been popular among Kannada software users. Everyday, thousands of users are using Baraha for sending emails. Many professional and amateur writers are using Baraha to send articles to magazines and newspapers. At present, when readers send email articles to the above websites using Baraha fonts, first they have to be retyped using the other software before they can be published. This is causing delay in publishing and also waste of manpower. Since the above websites use dynamic fonts and don't provide downloadable fonts, readers face difficulties when printing an article from the website. The readers are not able to copy the news/articles from the above websites and edit/save into their personal archive, unless they buy the respective commercial software/fonts. 

Font Convert allows users to convert Kannada text between Baraha and fonts from other vendors. It serves as a bridge to enable easy exchange of information between the Baraha users, and websites that use other fonts. Now, readers can send articles to above websites as Baraha documents. The websites can convert the articles to their fonts and publish. The readers can copy an article from the above websites, convert to Baraha fonts and print it. They can edit and save the article to their personal folders as a Baraha document. Converting documents from other fonts to Baraha fonts has other advantages. Baraha documents can be converted between different types of data formats including UNICODE.

Text conversion between Baraha 6.0 and the following font encodings is supported.

Baraha Kan New - Kannada font used in older versions of Baraha
Baraha Devanagari - Devanagari font used in older versions of Baraha
Shree-Kan-0850 - Kannada font from ShreeLipi
SHREE_DECCAN - Kannada font used in Prajavani news paper.
KN-TTUma - Kannada font from CDAC
KNW-TTUma - Kannada font used in Kannadaprabha news paper
AkrutiKndPadmini - Kannada font from Akruti

Clicking Down Arrow button will convert the text from top window and shows in the bottom window.
Clicking Up Arrow button will convert the text from bottom window and shows in the top window.

Conversion Type:
Select the type of conversion depending on which, the appropriate source and destination font names are shown for the top and bottom windows.

Paste Button:
Clicking Paste button will paste the text from the clipboard into the respective window.

Copy Button:
Clicking Copy button will copy the contents of the respective window to the clipboard.

Proxy Font:
If specified, proxy font is used for the converted text. This font should have the same encoding as the destination font.

Palin Text:
Font Convert uses the font information of the rich text (RTF) to identify and convert the required portions of the input text. But, sometimes when user copies the text from other applications (ex: Internet Explorer) to Font Convert, the font information in the copied text may be missing. In such cases, selecting this check box indicates that the text is unformatted plain text, and Font Convert will convert the entire text.

View ANSI:
Clicking this button opens the document in ANSI format in a separate window.

View UNICODE:
Clicking this button opens the document in UNICODE format in a separate window.
